The GALIX Poligraph w/ stimulator is a built-in multiprogrammable cardiac electrophysiological (EP) stimulator, which offers invasive cardiac stimulation, extrastimulation for electrophysiological studies, tachycardia termination and cardiac parameters monitoring.
As a pulse generator for transitory pacing the GALIX Poligraph w/ stimulator delivers pulses at rates from 30 to 150 ppm and has the following modes:
- Asynchronous (AOO)
- Demand (AAI)
Pulse Rate, Pulse Amplitude, Pulse Width, Sensitivity and Refractory Period can be programmed to achieve the highest pacing performance. The Poligraph w/ stimulator also has a special function for high rate asynchronous pacing at rates from 120 to 600 ppm (Overdriving). Two keys (STIM and STANDBY)starts and stops the stimulation.
As a cardiac termination device, the Poligraph w/ stimulator offers two methods of delivering extrastimuli, which are easily accessed by pressing the TACHY key. In the Orthorhythmic Pulse Bursts method, the external stimuli are synchronized to the sensed spontaneous depolarizations at intervals, which are 80% or 90% of the cycle length of the tachycardia. The second method is the Non-Orthorhythmic Scanning algorithm. In this case the stimuli are arranged in bursts characterized by the Initial Delay between the first burst and the sensed spontaneous depolarization, the Coupled Delay between pulses, and the number of pulses per burst.
The GALIX Poligraph w/ stimulator has an exclusive design based on a microcontroller at the heart of low-power consumption architecture for control and stimulation. This design permits excellent accuracy and flexible operation. A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a membrane keyboard provide the interface between the system and the physician. The 4-line x 40-char LCD allows fast and simultaneous reading of all important data. The 43-key membrane keyboard with direct access to most functions makes the operation simpler .
A list of some applications of the GALIX Poligraph w/ stimulator is shown below:
. Transitory Atrial Pacing of patients with sinus arrhythmia and normal A-V conduction.
. Measurement of atrial electrophysiologic response (refractoriness, SNRT, and so on).
. Evaluation of the ventricular response in patients with WPW syndrome.
. Measurement of Wenckebach block frequency.
. Sinus Node Overdriving.
. Initiation of reentrant tachyarrhythmia.
. Tachycardia detection with optical and acoustic indicators.
. Tachycardia termination with the Pulse Burst Method - Orthorhythmic.
. Tachycardia termination with the Scanning Method - non orthorhythmic.
. Tachycardia termination with the Overdriving Method.
. Management of patient with automatic implantable cardioverter/defibrillator (AICD).
